Recent Projects

Television Channel 9, Melbourne

Design and manufacture of a Master Control system, for management of emergency generator power supply to new television studios and offices for GTV Channel 9, Docklands, Melbourne. The system features a Hot Standby PLC system with dual redundant CPU’s and distributed PLC I/O. A HMI touch screen operator panel is also provided, with dynamic screen displays of system operation and detailed alarm and event recording.

Launceston Hospital, Launceston, Tasmania

Design and manufacture of a cogeneration management system for the hospital. A custom-designed Master Control Panel was supplied to operate the system for both co-generation and emergency power, by interface to a 2 Megawatt CAT gas engine generator set. Systems Insight also supplied motor control centres and protection control panels for the project.

Optus Exchange, Rochedale, Brisbane

A Master Control panel and two generator paralleling control panels were provided to automatically operate two 1.2 Megawatt MTU Kohler diesel generator sets. The Master Panel featured a 15” colour HMI touch panel, with dynamic graphical display screens, trending screens for electrical parameters and time & date stamped alarm/event recording.

A dedicated diesel fuel system control panel was also provided for each generator set, to manage diesel fuel transfer, to monitor and annunciate fuel storage levels & diesel fuel system status and alarms and to operate an automatic weekly fuel recirculation procedure.

Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne

New Co-generation and emergency power ‘Master Control’ systems for Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Victoria.

National Australia Bank Data Centre, Melbourne, Vic

A Master Control panel was designed and manufactured to manage operation of a Cummins gas engine generator set for a tri-generation system at the NAB Knox data centre. The control system featured complex PLC programming to operate the co-generator according to building load demand and required extensive use of high level communications. The tri-gen system successfully delivers an efficient green solution to meet the energy needs of the data centre.

Optus Satellite Facility, Hume, Canberra

A Master Control panel and generator paralleling control panel were provided to automatically operate a 1MW CAT diesel generator set, for stage one of a multiple generator installation. The Master Panel featured a 15” colour HMI touch panel, with dynamic graphical display screens, trending screens for various electrical parameters and time & date stamped alarm/event recording.

A dedicated diesel fuel system control panel was also provided, to manage nine diesel fuel transfer pumps, to monitor and annunciate fuel storage levels & diesel fuel system status and alarms and to operate an automatic weekly fuel recirculation procedure.

Melbourne Airport, Tullamarine

Control systems for emergency power management at Melbourne Airport were expanded by installation of new PLC control panels in various LV substations around the airport terminal. The new satellite PLC’s were integrated to a network of PLC’s that form a comprehensive emergency power load management scheme.

Network 10 Television, Melbourne

Supply of a complete turn-key diesel generator system, including supply and installation of a 700kVA CAT diesel generator set and design, manufacture and installation of a new emergency power control system. The system operates emergency power for the studios and offices of television channel 10 Melbourne.

St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne

Design and manufacture of an emergency power distribution management system for the hospital. A custom-designed Master Control Panel was supplied to operate emergency power generators and provide comprehensive building load management on emergency generator supply.

Aurora Place, 88 Philip St, Sydney

Upgrade of the generator control system to new paralleling control panels with Woodward GCP-31 controllers. Each Woodward GCP-31 features direct CAN Bus communications to the MTU MDEC microprocessor controllers on each of the three 1850kW MTU diesel generator sets.

A new ‘Master Control’ panel was installed to manage overall operation of the emergency power system. Dual HMI touch panels were installed in the generator room and main switch room to provide an extensive operator interface to the system. Facility is also provided for future synchronized closed transition transfer of power at 8 of the main power supply transfer switches on the main switchboards, utilizing sixteen networked Woodward LS4 synchronizing controllers.
